The caption "On Brown Mountain, below the 7-30 Mine - Silver Plume, Colorado" is handwritten on the back of this photograph of a man on a donkey. Found loose in the album, this cyanotype is damaged on the bottom right-hand corner. There is apparently nothing called "Brown Mountain" at this location in 2017, but there is "Brown Gulch." The 7:30 Mine is said to have been named for the hour miners went to work, an hour later than other mines. The approximate date is 1880s.
