With the growing need for language learning in this modern world, mobile learning is gaining importance in every area such as business, health care, higher education, and banking. Due to successes in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) has become the next target for language learning providers. Mobile devices become an important part in one's life, promoting the use of such devices in providing education. In today's busy life where time is a big constraint, mobile and wireless devices such as iPhone are used for almost everything, including talk and text, web surfing, mobile banking, blogging, and also managing personal details, such as calendars and meetings, etc. Revolutionary wireless devices such as iPad and Kindle have provided an innovative and more user-friendly approach to access eBooks and other documents. This thesis is focused on use of mobile learning for educational purposes. The tool thus acts as an educational tool which provides an inexpensive environment for language learners other than the traditional classroom. This tool can be used by both teachers and learners for providing shared resources and other language learning materials over the internet. It will serve as an educational resource; Features such as blogging enable users to engage in social interactions and discussions This thesis proposes a successful approach for not only enhancing the CALL-based language learning tool, SWAMI, with features like Video Conferencing, but also extending the tool for accessibility on mobile devices to support mobile assisted language learning. The basic functionality of this web-based tool will include accessing language learning material and writing and editing posts on the mobile device, for example, iPhone.
