Description
This thesis focuses on creating a GIS tool for the Department of History showcasing Indian history (Delhi Sultanate Period) and the lifetime of the rulers who ruled during the Delhi Sultanate period. The users have the ability to click on particular locations on an India Map, which allows them to view images of that particular location and information about the rulers who ruled that location in the Delhi Sultanate Period, and users can see more details about the rulers on respective web pages. This approach presents an effective learning tool for students by providing an interactive environment. Using a computer simulation is much more engaging and better aligned to the interests of modern students. Moreover, the students also have the ability to customize the application environment to suit their individual interests. By utilizing modern computer technology to present an important subject in an engaging and interesting fashion, this work could become an effective learning tool in the classroom, not just for students, but also for the instructors, who can handle bigger class sizes with greater ease. GIS technologies like Map Objects - JAVA edition and j2sdk were used along with the Net Beans IDE to develop this tool.
