The United States has been providing military aid to Latin America for decades; however, the result has militarized the region. U.S. foreign policy goals are to make the U.S. safe from terrorism; however, U.S. policies in Latin America specifically are creating more terrorists and anti-American feelings. In contrast, the United States gives mostly humanitarian aid to Africa. However, that is changing with AFRICOM and other similar programs. The United States is now poised to militarize Africa as it did with Latin America. This paper discussed the flaws with U.S. foreign policy with regard to foreign and military aid and suggestions for future improvements.
