Film presents us with a variety of meanings that we either accept or deny based on the myriad of other experiences that have come before it. These meanings stay with us to varying degrees, building us into people that live and breathe in a way that is altogether unique. In the creation of "The Magicians", my aim was to portray ways in which memory is constructed with individuals. These constructions vary widely based on biases and interpretations of each participant, resulting in highly coded meaning attached to specific events. Because of film's visual nature, the memories created are powerful, full of emotional charge that is highly susceptible to multiple interpretations of events. "The Magicians" was screened for faculty review on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at San Diego State University. The DVD, and appendix to the project, is available for viewing at the Media Center of Love Library
