The Language Acquisition Resource Center (LARC) at San Diego State University has developed various projects to facilitate the process of language learning. The focus of this thesis project is to research the aspects of Social Networking and its usage in language learning and develop a strong Social Networking portal for LARC with major functionality, user friendliness and features of this technology and emphasize its usage on language learning rather than other common usage of Social Networking. This portal will complement the learning experience of the users by introducing them to social networking features like Friends, Groups, Blogs, Discussions, and File Sharing etc. LARC-Net as the portal is called is a forum where users can have their own profile, discussion forum, capability to add favorite artifacts like audio, video, text files, download them, add friends, create groups, group discussions etc. This extension for LARC is conceptualized to be a great asset for the interactive capacity of language learning and teaching, which is LARC's major purpose. s this is a team project, my focus as a team member is to assist of the research and majorly concentrate on the implementation and integration of LARC-Net project, which is social networking portal for LARC. Major aspects of LARC-Net like the blog feature, file sharing, administration of the portal, Database administration and deployment forms the major part of my work. According to the work distribution I undertake assisting Research, Enhancing System with powerful search capability, Database Administration, Front End Assist, Major Back End, Major Implementation, Integration, and Testing.
