Description
The Language Acquisition and Resource Centre (LARC) at San Diego State University is an institute that specializes in the teaching and research of foreign languages in the United States. The institute has a variety of research materials, publications and technology that is made available to the users in various ways such as websites, learning tools. A comprehensive repository of resources available to users through LARC's tools eases the task of learning foreign languages. The LARC tools thus go a long way in helping students learn and master foreign languages. With such an important responsibility, it is imperative for the LARC staff to keep updating their language learning tools to the new emerging technologies. The focus of my research is making things more efficient for students and teachers during language learning process. The tool helps teachers to upload video/audio and add subtitles to it in the particular language the video belongs to. In a way this enables students to easily learn a language. The existing video upload tool (VUT) lacks language support for audio/video. With the advanced version of this tool, teachers and students can add subtitles to the video in a particular language. The advanced Video Upload tool supports languages like Arabic, French, Spanish, English, Hebrew, Turkish, and Urdu. Apart from this, the tool has a blogging feature, translates subtitles to other supporting languages, and downloads the subtitles. This website is sync with LARC's goal to reach teachers and students with tools that will simplify their language learning experience and make the process smooth and easy.
