The demand for multimedia over the wireless medium has been increasing continuosly. But providing a high quality video utilising the the limited resources which are available is a challenging task. The bandwidth of transmission is limited which is a key factor in video transmission. The end users want the video content to be available on devices like tablet PCs and smartphones. Thus channel coding algorithms which can deliver high quality content by making it robust against noise are required. Here in this thesis, an approach is proposed which provides robust video transmission in a Rayleigh environment. This scheme proposes unequal error protection to the H.264 video data at the physical layer. Unequal protection is given by modulating different priorities of data in the H.264 video with different modulation schemes and code rates. This scheme shows a significant improvement in the reconstructed video when compared with the equal error protection scheme.
