(Sound begins at around 12 seconds.) Out in San Diego (OISD) was an LGBT radio program that aired on KPBS in the mid-1980s. After excerpts from the show as teasers, announcer Rick Moore speaks about the Freedom Banquet, "the event of the year" for "gay rights," which was a "roast" of David McWhorter, and lists attendees and their place in the national LGBTQ scene, ending with a piece of Virginia Apuzzo's speech. Also speaking was Bridget Wilson (about the Human Rights Award given to Pastor David Farrell of the MCC Church of San Diego). In giving thanks for his award, Farrell comments on the progress on LGBTQ rights. Apuzzo speaks next about the fight for human rights. The voice of Doug Moore begins the next segment, with Kathy Hauer announcing, on the topic of the annual Pride parade and festival, as well as a dinner in October. The next story by Denise Nellison is about WomanCare, with Catherine Kroger-Diamond (here Catherine Kroger), Noelle Burke, and Carol Pierce(?) speaking. At the end there appear to be a few lead-ins that are not used, some spoken by Rich Wood. Wood also ends the broadcast. (Names were not spelled and may be inaccurate.)
