Janice Heinzmann was the first female Mayor of Del Mar, and at the time of the interview was only 6 weeks into the job. As of 2011, she was teaching United States and world history at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California. The interview took place as part of an oral history project about women in politics at California State University, San Diego.
