Space Coast Beach Volleyball (SCBV) strives to teach kids to play beach volleyball so they fall in love with the sport while learning about living a healthy and active lifestyle. The business offers summer camps, clinics, and private lessons to kids from ages 10 to 18 in Brevard County, Florida. The explosive growth of beach volleyball coupled with a small, underserved market will allow this business to succeed. The target market for SCBV contains 30,077 families and 10,534 children between the ages of 10 and 18. During the first summer, there is a goal to register 64 kids for camps with additional camps being offered if there is strong demand. While there are other competitors who run beach volleyball clubs and clinics in the area, a summer camp offering is unique. SCBV is separated by its young coaching staff that exclusively focuses on beach volleyball, its technologically sophisticated registration process, and its focus on the athletes' health and well-being in addition to just teaching them a new sport. Based on conservative registration calculations, SCBV should bring in revenues of just over $25,000 from June to December 2015 and almost $60,000 in the first full year of existence, 2016. This will grow to about $87,000 by year 5, enough money for the coaches to work exclusively at SCBV. Furthermore, registration of just 49.7% of the year 1 target will be sufficient for the business to break even.
