Description
The purpose of this thesis is to develop a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tool to demonstrate Bay Area Agriculture in northern California. The map shows crop yield in Bay Area Counties along with some crop statistics. Crop data is shown on the map in the form of shape files. The users also have the ability to click on any County to learn more about it. There are custom menus and tools that add more information. The application has been developed using Java along with Map Objects with Java Objects (MOJO). MOJO is a product of ESRI Company, Environmental Systems Research Institute. The user interface of the application is very user friendly. The multimedia content adds more information and gives a better learning experience to the users. There is information on various crops, pests, imports and exports. All the information is based on the data provided by the relevant County's Agricultural Departments and Port of Oakland.
