Description
The project aims to promote early literacy skills that are essential for children's literacy development and support children to learn from books while enjoying a quality reading experience with parents through an online literacy module. Shared book reading is an interactive reading experience that occurs when children join in or share the reading of a book and are supported by a teacher or their parents. During shared book reading, the process of reading and reading strategies are demonstrated. In shared book reading, children participate in reading, learn critical concepts of how print works, get the feel of learning and begin to perceive themselves as readers (Fountas & Pinnell, 1996). Shared book reading involves a social and interactive context in which there is a transmission of literacy knowledge from the adult to the child. By providing information and resources that are easily accessed online, parents would be more aware of the importance of shared book reading, and get the support whenever they need.
