Description
This project is an ethnographic research of experiences and interactions using trauma informed intervention to enhance social emotional and attachment and address the needs of young children in institutionalized care. This project illustrates the interactions the researcher had as a participant within the group, a cultural broker, using reflective journaling and meta-reflective practices, in an orphanage in La Gloria, Mexico. The project as a whole used the observations and reflective practice to gain a better understanding of the needs of the children and staff and to propose a trauma informed intervention, based on the Circle of Education program, to enhance positive interactions and social emotional learning. Keywords: trauma, social emotional development, attachment orphanage, institutionalized care, reflective practice, meta-reflective practices, ethnographic research, cultural broke.
