Conversion of ESRI shapefile to spatial database tables
Interlando, Carmelo J.
This GIS application tool is used to display and save map layers containing location based data. A map layer has data stored either in different files associated with it like dbf, shp and shx files or can be stored in a database using the SDO_GEOMETRY spatial database object type that can be used to store a wide variety of spatial data like points, lines, polygons etc. The conversions between esri shapefiles and oracle SDO tables are important. ESRI provides a tool for esri to SDO, and the reverse tool is part of this thesis. This GIS application tool can do the following: Display maps containing location based data from files containing the dataset. Display maps containing location based data from the database or save them as shapefiles. Save map layers to the database. Remove all displayed maps.
