Advances in mobile technology bring along convenience and improved reliability. Researchers and scientists in various fields have become interested in taking advantage of the benefits they can possibly attain from utilizing a mobile device as a mean to solve their problems or improve their work flow. Following a study aimed to show that metagenomic data can be used with clinical assessments for development of treatments tailored to individual cystic fibrosis (CF) patients, the department of biology at SDSU (San Diego State University) has suggested the development of an ipad application to facilitate display of patient data. For this thesis project we developed an ipad application to present the potential of having an advanced patient-monitoring application that enables researchers and physicians to access the required information regarding patients on a mobile device.
