The purpose of this research has two goals: (1) To increase internet and mobile literacy in Indonesia and analyze the benefits, challenges, and risks that come with it and (2) To demonstrate how increasing internet/mobile literacy knowledge can increase relations, collaboration, and business between Indonesia and the United States. The target audiences are most Indonesian social media users including parents, educators, and young adults as well as local, state, and federal officials from the U.S. and Indonesian government. Most of the research draws from news sources, academia, and personal accounts. This research will provide valuable information on benefits and risks using social media in Indonesia, how it will improve the livelihood of Indonesian citizens, and why it is important for United States interests.
