Description
The software Flame Analyzer 2 has been developed to track flame properties such as leading edge, spread rate, and area. Flame Analyzer 2 expands on the capabilities of the original Flame Analyzer while maintaining the same or, in some cases, better accuracy. While Flame Analyzer operates on a one-dimensional intensity threshold-based flame detection method, Flame Analyzer 2 uses a full two-dimensional method which is capably of filtering primary colors separately and selecting regions of interest. Like Flame Analyzer, Flame Analyzer 2 is a fully functioning computer application written in MATLAB with the ability to for the user to provide a video file for analysis, specify settings, generate graphical results and create output files. Additionally, the history of data collection in flame spread experiments has been collected. Methods from “marks and stopwatch” in the early days to the beginning of computer-assisted video analysis to present day flame spread video analysis suites are detailed.
