An attempt to determine the binary frequency of late-type subgiants by observing small variations in radial velocity is investigated. Radial velocities of five stars are examined by use of the variance ratio (F) test. Three subgiants, 7v² CMa, 24 UMa, and HD 82734, yielded variance ratios which could be interpreted as due to the possible binary nature of the star. It is recommended that investigation into the problem be continued to gain an adequate statistical sample.
