Statement of problem. It is the intent of this project to present a thesis based upon the creative Chicano life style with the Mexican American interrelationships and cultural influences which form its ideologies. These living, distinct bilingual and bicultural experiences lend themselves to many unique artistic statements. It is from these creative experiences that I chose to create and to discover a new horizon in the history of art, a horizon inspired by the spiritual attitudes of La Reza and by the other Chicano and American artists striving for social justice and freedom of self-expression on all artistic levels. I wish to create independently of movements or doctrines and, at the same time, maintain the spirit of La Raza as the basis and source of nourishment for my art.
