Occupational choice is unusually free and open in our society. The number of occupations to which entrance is restricted are very few. For the ordinary young man the process of finding the right occupation is one of trial and error. He starts toward some occupation on the accidental advice of someone, or perhaps because he happens to be attracted to a certain older man. He knocks about from one job to another until he finds something that suits him.
