Competition is not a difficult word to understand, for it is part of everyday competition of jobs, competition for prizes and competition for affection. It is the stimulus to work. This has been the reason why certain men have set out to find why competition in one phase of daily living is no longer working. Why is it not working? Why can our economy no longer be described in terms of competition? To what point has this been accomplished by exception, by compromise, and by blurred thinking? Was our economy effective under competition? Is it effective now? Or is competition a myth? Or, if it is good, how can we persuade the public of its worth?
