A teacher must have the spirit of art in full and more than a modicum of technical ability in order to be an effective teacher of the living art (1). Such an artist-teacher, remembering his own early struggles, will be more apt to increase technical ability without destroying the student's eagerness to learn. This type of artist-teacher will also be involved in numerous artistic experiences which will enable her to adapt those aspects of art which are appropriate to the needs of various groups of individuals. The artist-teacher must be emotionally stable and confident in her ability in the fields of art and education.
