The research project aims to provide a dynamic and interactive location based application to represent information about buildings, roads and services on San Diego State University's campus as well as to provide a graphical routing and direction service to navigate between various start and destination end points on the campus, based on user input. The app also allows users to find resources on the map based on building names and departments and provides information about department offices, phone numbers and building addresses. The proposed idea is to use existing shapefiles for buildings and roads in the campus of San Diego State University and create a geodatabase with geographic information about the locations of buildings, departments, classrooms, parking structures, etc. The geodatabase can then be used to represent the campus on the GUI and also provide route and direction information from and to different points on the campus as per the user's choice. A database of San Diego State University's departments listing is also used to provide browsing and contact information to users, like building address, room and phone numbers, allowing new users of the university's campus to have easy access to rather abstruse information.
