This project based thesis is a theoretical design for a mechanical trap, or SLOAT (Sliding Lid Over A Trap) to be used in conjunction with an existing theatrical lift. It details a mechanical design process from conception, through drawing, engineering and budgeting of said mechanical trap with the intent that future students in the San Diego State University's School of Theatre, Television, and Film may effectively build a realized product.
