The China Grade Loop area was part of the Kern River Oil Field, below this China Grade Bluff. It was called "China Grade" because Chinese immigrants made a path to the watercress they had found growing on the slopes of this hill, and the highway built later followed it. This card was "hand-colored," according to a notice on the divided back, where the publisher's number 2251 is also found.
