The sign held by workers reads "Boole." The Boole Tree, a giant sequoia in Converse Basin grove in the Sequoia National Forest, is the sixth largest tree in the world. Until 1931 it was believed to be the largest, and the grove in which it stands was mostly logged out by 1918. The photographer's number 368 is in front of the title in the right margin. On the back the photographer's address shown is "San Francisco, Cal." Since the card was made in Germany and the back is divided, the dates of production would have been from 1907 to 1915.
