The Green Pleasure Pier (1909) shows as the second pier toward the left, while a steamship ferry, is at the near Steamier Pier. The motto on the back "On the Road of a Thousand Wonders" belonged to campaign by the Southern Pacific Railroad to promote its Coast Line-Shasta Route that included San Pedro, from which passengers could catch the ferry. The message portion on the divided back of this card is mostly occupied by an advertisement by the proprietors of the stagecoach seen here on right, travelling on the coach road to the isthmus of the island, Greeley Stage Company of Avalon. Greeley Stage took over the coaches in 1910 but switched to automobiles in 1914. The publisher's number on the back of this card is E 32. The approximate date is the 1910s.
