This is an artist's rendition of the Hotel St. Catherine on Descanso Bay, planned in 1915 after fire destroyed much of Avalon, including the Hotel Metropole. The hotel was not actually constructed until 1917, opening by 1918. According to the Curt Teich Postcard Archives dating guide, the number on the back of the card, A-69273, represents the year 1916.
