The homes of Hollywood movie stars have traditionally been the subjects of postcards. This residence was in Bel Air, a Los Angeles community northwest of, and more exclusive than, Beverly Hills. Many postcards were constructed like this one, with a photograph of the home and an inset of a publicity photograph of the actor. In this case the actor was Judy Garland (1922-1969), immortalized in the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz" as Dorothy Gale. According to the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, the number in the right lower corner of this card, OB-H506, places its publication in 1940. The publisher's number at the top of this card is 848.
