Horton Plaza is in the right foreground of this hand-tinted linen postcard, on Broadway, the wide street with streetcars leading to the Bay in about the vertical middle of the card. Across from the plaza on the far right at bottom is the U.S. Grant Hotel, built in 1910. The smokestacks at the end of the block between Broadway and E became a center of controversy during the 1917 elections. Point Loma is visible on the horizon, with North Island, the Spanish Bight, and Coronado visible in San Diego Bay. The publisher number on the back is 32581.
