D Street was renamed Broadway in 1913, limiting the manufacture of this hand-tinted picture postcard to that date at the latest. Also limiting the date range is the prominent structure second from the right of the photograph, the Pickwick Theatre, built for Louis Wilde (1865-1924) by Irving Gill (1870-1936) and opened in 1905 (the date on the building says 1904) at 1029 Fourth Avenue. Only one motor car shows in the picture, with one bicycles and many horse-drawn carriages. There are also no streetcar tracks, although there were streetcars from F street almost to C Street along Fourth Avenue by 1925. The card publisher operated from 1901-1915. Given the postal regulations that allowed divided backs like the one on this card only from 1907, the possible dates of the card would appear to be 1907-1913.
