The inscription on the black-and-white photograph in the picture section of this picture postcard identifies the animals in the image as "The Giraffes" at the San Diego Zoo." Two giraffes stand in front of the camera and face right as if looking back at onlookers behind the fence of their cage. This is a Real Photo postcard (RPPC) made with Dops photo paper (as evidenced in the stampbox on the back of this card). The Real Photo process allowed photographers to take a "snapshot" and have it finished at a photo shop that printed it out on postcard backing for mailing. Dops photo paper was made from 1925 to 1942.
