This view of the Scripps Aviary at the San Diego Zoo shows that the walkways are outside the cage. The message portion of the postcard states that it is the "Tallest Flight Cage in the World." In fact, in 1960 it was 95 feet high, 125 feet long and 80 feet wide, built in 1923. In 1958 the cage was renovated such that visitors could walk inside the cage, so this picture must represent a date between 1923 and 1958. In 1991 the cage was remodeled again, and in 2020 is described as a "lush African rainforest" by the San Diego Zoo Website. The funds to build the initial flight cage were given by Ellen Browning Scripps.
