John D. (1853-1926) and Adolph B. Spreckels (1857-1924) donated the Spreckels pipe organ to the City of San Diego in 1914 for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915. It has continued in use into the 21st Century. The Exposition was held in San Diego's Balboa Park to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal.
