A mural depicting the Japanese goddess of light was never completed. Artist Hideo Date worked on the mural at the Mildred Obar Walizar School, a school for language on Terminal Island in San Pedro Harbor. After Pearl Harbor, Date, along with nearly all of the island's residents of Japanese descent, was removed to an internment camp for the duration of the war. The building itself was destroyed along with any progress on the mural as much of the land was impounded by the military.
